The Malaysian Immigration Department issues the Malaysia Special Pass to foreign nationals who have not renewed their current employment or student pass or have not departed after it expired if it is for a reason they deem acceptable.
Special Pass can be issued for two reasons: “Making Arrangement to Leave the Country” and “Pending Approval of a Student Pass”.
(a) Special Pass for International Students
Purpose
- Extra time for studies or visa processing.
Eligibility:
- Students need more time post-course.
- Students with visa renewals in process.
- New students awaiting visa issuance.
Requirements:
- Valid passport.
- Proof of student status.
- Additional documents if requested.
Validity:
- Up to 30 days, extendable.
(b) Special Pass for Dependents
Purpose:
- Time for visa processing or departure.
Eligibility:
- Dependents awaiting visa renewal application.
- Dependents need extra time to depart.
Requirements:
- Valid passport.
- Proof of relationship (marriage/birth certificate).
- Current or expired dependent visa.
- Additional documents if requested.
Validity:
- Up to 30 days, extendable.
How to Apply
- Go to INSO Office
- Fill up Format A
- Make payment as per requirement at the Finance Department
- Submit the form to INSO Office
- Submit support document if applicable.
Documents and Procedure for Special Pass at Lincoln University College
- Apply: At least 7 days before the current pass expires.
- Assistance: School can help, but costs are your responsibility.

- Original passport.
- Photocopies of all passport pages.
- Copies of previous passports (if any).
- Copy of current pass.
- Flight ticket for check-out memo.
New Application for Dependents Pass:
To apply, please go to INSO Office and meet the counselor.

- Photocopy of primary pass holder’s passport details and current pass.
- Marriage certificate (spouses).
- Birth certificate (dependent child).
- Birth certificate of main pass holder (dependent parent).
- Reserved flight ticket within 30 days.
- Typed letter explaining the need for a Special Pass.
